Good readers organize facts as they read. This helps them to read rapidly and well. Understanding how the facts all fit together to deliver the author's message is, after all, the reason for reading.

Speed Reading Class Procedure

Listening & Reading (15 minutes)

The student will read each practice passage aloud 3 times while listening to the audio. The student should try to match his or her reading speed to the speed of the audio.

Assessment (10 minutes)

The student will read the same passages he or she read in Step 1 while the teacher measures the reading time.

Self-Check (30 minutes)

The student will read 4 more passages and recordthe reading time for each one. Then he or she will answer the comprehension questions.

Check with the teacher (5 minutes)

The teacher will check if the student has finished all the work in Step 3.

Comupter Test

The student will take a comprehension test.
